Former Police Service Commission chairman Bliss Seepersad has been ordered to pay former police commissioner Gary Griffith TT$250,000 for damage to his reputation. High Court Judge Kevin Ramcharan upheld Griffith’s misfeasance-in-public-office claim on 4 November.

The dispute concerned the handling of the merit list for Griffith’s proposed reappointment in 2021. The judge rejected a separate claim for loss of opportunity: there was no guarantee that Parliament would have approved the reappointment. The distinction matters—the award does not establish an entitlement to return to office.
