The High Court has rejected Housing Minister David Lee’s challenge to the process used to revive criminal proceedings against him. Justice Westmin James delivered the decision on 4 November.

The case concerns alleged fraud involving approximately TT$1.4 million in vehicle tax exemptions. The ruling addresses the legality of the procedure, not guilt on the underlying allegations. Lee retains the ability to ask the trial judge to halt the prosecution as an abuse of process. The criminal case had previously been discharged following a preliminary inquiry.
