The Senate has passed the Special Operations Bill by sixteen votes to fifteen. Parliament records approval without amendments. Commencement still requires proclamation; passage alone does not confirm the powers are in force.

A Yellow Level Hot Spell Alert is in effect across Trinidad and Tobago. Forecasters warn of periods of high temperatures through October. Take particular care during the hottest hours, from ten a.m. to four p.m.

Proman is reducing staffing as gas constraints affect production in Trinidad. Consultations continue, and the number of affected workers has not been confirmed.

In the Caribbean, Haiti’s Prime Minister is calling for stronger security support and restored public services ahead of elections planned for December thirteenth.

Internationally, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping held talks in Washington on trade, artificial intelligence and Taiwan. Early Friday reporting showed no major breakthrough.

And in sport, Trinidad and Tobago lost three goals to two against Haiti at Sabina Park. The Soca Warriors led two-one before Haiti scored twice in stoppage time.
