The Senate is scheduled to consider the alcohol, cannabis, dangerous drugs, gambling and tobacco bill on October second at ten-thirty in the morning. The House passed it with amendments by twenty-three votes to ten. The scheduled debate is not a final legislative outcome.

Massy Holdings has agreed to sell its Caterpillar-related business and assets in Trinidad and Tobago to Machinery Corporation Motors Limited, known as MACORP. The deal still needs regulatory approval and other closing conditions. Massy says it will continue operating the business until completion.

The Occupational Safety and Health Authority and Agency is developing proposed oil rig safety regulations. Government, energy companies and trade unions discussed the framework at a September twenty-eighth consultation. The review covered equipment, maintenance and emergency response. The rules remain proposals.

In regional news, CARICOM has paid tribute to Gabriel Serville, President of the Territorial Collectivity of French Guiana, following his death on September thirtieth. The Community says he led efforts that brought French Guiana into CARICOM as an associate member in July.

In international news, UNICEF says four in five households in Lebanon struggle to afford basic necessities. Twenty-two per cent of surveyed households reported children going hungry. Thirty-one per cent said children missed needed healthcare, mainly because of cost.

In sport, West Indies Women have won their one-day series against Zimbabwe, two-one. They won the deciding match in Harare by ninety-one runs, scoring two hundred and seventy-one for five before dismissing Zimbabwe for one hundred and eighty.
