UNICEF reported on 30 September 2026 that four in five households in Lebanon struggle to afford basic necessities. Its findings said children go to bed hungry in at least one in five households, and around one in three surveyed families reported children missing necessary healthcare, mainly because of cost. The agency’s report, An Enduring Nightmare, describes the combined effects of hostilities and economic hardship. UNICEF called for sustained action to protect children’s health, education and wellbeing.
