Supply and procurement problems affecting diabetes and some cancer medicines are being addressed, Health Minister Dr Lackram Bodoe says. He also says the Chronic Disease Assistance Programme will be strengthened.

Bodoe has promised that the new Central Block at Port of Spain hospital will open during this financial year. He says an inadequate connection to the emergency department has delayed the project.

These are ministerial assurances. They do not establish that medicine shortages have ended or that the hospital block has opened.
