The Government plans to divest Hilton Trinidad, the Magdalena Grand hotel, National Quarries and the La Brea Industrial Development Company, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced in Tobago on 13 October.

Persad-Bissessar said expressions of interest for the hotels would be invited soon. Speaking at the sod-turning for a privately developed hotel at Rocky Point, she argued that the State should leave hotel management to private investors.

The announcement sets out a proposed transfer of state-owned businesses. It does not establish that any sale has been completed.
