The Tobago House of Assembly is reviewing how the island can prepare for potential water-supply pressures associated with warmer weather and reduced rainfall. Chief Secretary Farley Augustine hosted a readiness meeting on Monday, 14 September.

The discussions considered preventive action to protect supplies in the coming months. The report linked the preparations to an El Niño outlook and a Meteorological Service forecast of below-normal June-to-November rainfall for Tobago.

These are preparedness discussions about a forecast risk. The report did not announce a new island-wide water shutdown, rationing timetable or confirmed failure of supply. Forecast conditions and any operational water notices should therefore be distinguished: the meeting signals planning for possible pressure, rather than confirmation that every community is already affected.
