PowerGen settlement sets December 15 payment deadline

About 150 PowerGen workers are scheduled to receive outstanding payments by December 15 under a TT$66.1 million settlement with the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union.

Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath announced the agreement in Parliament on October 30. It provides a cumulative 9% wage increase over five years, covering the 2016–2017 and 2018–2020 bargaining periods.

Padarath said the parties settled through negotiations rather than a court ruling. The payment date is a commitment, not confirmation that the money has been paid.
