The State has settled former Central Bank governor Dr Alvin Hilaire’s constitutional claim without disclosing the cost to taxpayers.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar confirmed the agreement on 2 November. Hilaire’s attorney, Stuart Young, said confidentiality binds the parties. The agreement ends the challenge to Hilaire’s June 2025 removal before trial; it is not a judicial finding on his constitutional claims.
