Nutrien is shutting down its Point Lisas nitrogen operations indefinitely. The company cites continuing natural gas constraints and uncertainty. The plant has been idle since October last year. Nutrien says it will manage the transition safely, but its announcement gives no restart date.

Three new boroughs are proposed for Barataria, Saint Augustine and Couva. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says legislation is being prepared. The plan would also give Chaguanas city status. These changes have not been enacted.

An electricity service vehicle overturned in Mason Hall, Tobago, on Monday. T and TEC says one employee suffered minor injuries and three others were taken to hospital as a precaution. No members of the public were injured.

In regional news, Baker Hughes has signed agreements to develop Venezuela's natural gas infrastructure. The company says the projects could support domestic supplies and future gas exports. The agreements are a framework for development, not completed projects.

In international news, French students are staging school blockades over staff shortages and poor buildings. Trade unions are joining Tuesday's protests. The prime minister has asked ministers for initial proposals by the end of October.

In sport, West Indies Women have clinched their three-match Twenty-twenty series against Zimbabwe. Monday's eight-wicket win gives them a two-nil lead, with one match remaining on Wednesday.
