The municipal reform bill has passed the House of Representatives, twenty-seven votes to eleven. The amended bill would give Chaguanas city status and establish the boroughs of Barataria, Couva, Saint Augustine and Sangre Grande. The House approved it last night. Its passage in the House does not bring those changes into force.

Emergency repairs to the main serving the Seven Seas desalination plant have disrupted water supplies in parts of south-west Trinidad. WASA's notice yesterday set seven this morning as the target for returning the plant to service. The repairs involve a twenty-four-inch main linking the plant to the distribution system. Communities listed as affected include Vance River, Guapo, Egypt Village and Cap-de-Ville. That restart time is a target, rather than confirmation that household supplies have returned.

In sport, West Indies Women beat Zimbabwe by eight wickets in their third T-twenty international in Harare yesterday. Zimbabwe made one hundred and forty-two for six. West Indies reached one hundred and forty-three for two in seventeen overs, with eighteen balls to spare.
