Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath says the Government is working to access and use more than US$120 million in existing Inter-American Development Bank loan funding for WASA infrastructure. TTT reported his comments outside Parliament on 30 September. He said the funding came from two loans obtained by the previous administration and was not a newly acquired loan. He said conditions attached to the loans must be satisfied and that officials have been working with the IDB. Planned work includes treatment plants and ageing water mains across Trinidad and Tobago, to be phased after the budget. These are the Minister’s announced plans; the report does not establish completed works or full disbursement.
