Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean mourn Mighty Sparrow

Slinger Francisco, the Mighty Sparrow, died on Sunday, 27 September. CARICOM confirmed his passing in a condolence message. A separate report, citing his family, said he died in New York aged 91 after a brief illness. Born in Grenada and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Sparrow helped carry calypso’s social and political commentary to audiences across the world. CARICOM extended condolences to his family and both countries.
