NIB executive director gives notice of December retirement

National Insurance Board executive director Niala Persad-Poliah plans to retire on 13 December, bringing a 23-year career at the organisation to a close. She has served as executive director for 12 of those years, according to reporting published on 15 September.

Her notice was set out in a letter dated 14 September to NIB chairman Judy Kalloo. In it, she reflected on service to customers and staff, the organisation’s direction and the preservation of the National Insurance Fund.

Persad-Poliah pledged to support continuity of leadership and operations before her departure. She did not provide a reason for retiring early and declined further comment when approached. Her retirement notice did not link the decision to separate governance allegations reported in the same article. Those allegations should not be treated as an established explanation for her departure.
